Fast & Fun Facts:
• Although John Wes Townley and Zaxby’s will make the move to RCR for the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series season, Townley is “committed to the No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford for the last two race of the season. We want to finish out the year strong.” Strong is what he did in Texas. The rookie recovered from a pre-race penalty that sent him to the rear of the field to bring home his best start/finish at Texas Motor Speedway and his sixth top-20 finish of 2009.
• 14-year-old Dylan Presnell of Sevierville, TN will drive John Wes’ No. 09 Late Model in Sunday’s World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA.

This Week’s No. 09 Zaxby’s Ford: Townley will pilot chassis No. 028 in the Able Body Labor 200 at PIR. This is a chassis that was built new for the 2009 season and was last seen at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2009 where the rookie finished 36th.

John Wes Townley at Phoenix: 19-year-old Townley has two starts at the 1-mile tri-oval. His best start/finish came in the April 2009 Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 where the Watkinsville, GA native started 32nd and finished 36th due to an accident.

Season Review: After 33 of the 35 scheduled events on the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, John Wes Townley has 24 starts including one top-10 and five top-15’s. The Watkinsville, GA native also has six top-20 and 10 top-25 finishes.

Points Check: A solid effort by the Raybestos Rookie contender at Texas Motor Speedway gained him one position in the 2009 driver point standings and also gained ground on a coveted top-30 spot in the championship owner point standings. Townley currently sits 23rd in the driver standings and the No. 09 entry remains 32nd in owner point standings just 422 markers outside the top-30.

Rookie Race: Townley currently remains 7th in the 2009 Raybestos Rookie of the year battle.

We Are Guessing He Signs His Name Fast Too: Townley will join other NNS drivers for an autograph session on Saturday, November 14th from 8:30-9:30 am in Gatorade Victory Lane prior to NNS qualifying. To participate fans are asked to bring in one non-perishable food item or $5. All proceeds will benefit the West Davidson Food Pantry in Davidson, NC. In addition to typical food items the Pantry is in need of: rice, saltine crackers, peanut butter, Bisquick, sugar, flour, pancake syrup, apple sauce, jelly, spaghetti noodles & sauce, coffee & tea.
